Welcome to the 21st Annual Gatherings in Biosemiotics!
The Annual Gatherings of the International Society for Biosemiotic Studies is where biosemiotics scholars from around the world gather to share their latest work in the study of representation, meaning, sense, and the biological and cultural significance of sign processes, ranging from the intercellular signalling processes to animal display behaviour to human semiotic artefacts such as language and abstract symbolic culture and thought.
Because of the ongoing uncertainty of the coronavirus pandemic and its impact on international travel, this year's Gatherings will be held in a hybrid modality, taking place with presenters both online and in Stockholm, thanks to the kind collaboration of NAV Sweden and the International Bateson Institute.
On these pages will be able to watch all of the conference presentations as they take place “live” over Zoom, both in real-time with the link we will share at the time of the conference to be shown on NAV's YouTube channel or at your leisure at the conference YouTube channel where they will be archived after the conference. Here, too, you will be able access our library of accepted poster presentations for the conference.
Such “virtual attendance” is free to all, and please see our registration page if you wish to be able to be an active participant in the Zoom sessions as they take place.
On these pages, too, you will find all the information about this year’s conference, as it becomes available.
So please check back here often, and we are very much looking forward to seeing you at the Gatherings!
